Profile:

Alan Ameen was born and raised in Baghdad. In his early childhood, he began to understand the architecture of that city while visiting the office of an architectural and engineering consultant where his mother worked.

 In 2008, Alan obtained his bachelor’s degree in Architecture from The University of Technology in Baghdad, Iraq. At this time, he was honored for his graduation project: the design of the University of Technology 2025. In the following year, he was honored by the Ministry of Youth and Sport for one of his academic projects, which won him 7th place in a competition conducted for students.

 During his career after graduation, Alan was hired as a junior Architect in three firms, each in a different city, and with different areas of specialization. These were Almimary - an Urban renovation firm in Baghdad, Iraq; a residential buildings' firm in Erbil, Iraq; and an interior design firm in Amman, Jordan.

 He was invited in 2016 by the University of Maryland-School of Architecture to critique the final review of the 2nd-year proposal for a café at the Kenilworth aquatic gardens. It was after this experience that he began to seriously consider applying for master’s degree programs. In 2017, Alan was admitted as a graduate student to the University of New Mexico School of Architecture and Planning. He was awarded three teaching assistantships, with accompanying In-State tuition benefits – this after moving to New Mexico from Richmond, VA to pursue his graduate studies

In the fifteenth of December, two thousand eighteen the University of New Mexico has conferred upon Alan Ameen the degree of Master of Architecture.
